What is a GLOCAL HACK?

With the uncertainty caused by COVID-19 and with the goal of promoting reflections that connect us with our environment, UNIV’s cultural activity this year will be in the format of a Glocal Hack. That is, it will be an online team-based learning experience to create solutions that respond to challenges related to the theme of UNIV 2021: “Navigate. Seeking a solid education in a liquid society”.

Participants from different countries will unite in multidisciplinary teams. Together, they will learn to work using Design Thinking methodologies. Accompanied by mentors, each team will analyze a challenge of their choice, how it affects the environment, how to solve it. They will then execute the steps to achieve it together. The goal is to foster entrepreneurship, innovation and the acquisition of appropriate skills and abilities to be agents of transformation in the environment itself — all this within a climate of joy, respect and collaboration.

We realize that, given the current situation, many people may find it difficult to travel to UNIV in Rome. For this reason, we offer the possibility of participating in the Glocal Hack from wherever you are, connecting virtually with the participants in Rome. On the Glocal Hack online platform, there are no geographical barriers: if you cannot come to Rome, Rome comes to you.
